Student housing SiO

I applied for the student housing already in April and was lucky to be allocated my second choice which was a furnished studio flat in Grunerlokka, Sofienberg Studenthouse. It's a 5 to 10 minutes walk to the school over the brigde. Rent is very reasonable for the area, approximately 5009 NOK for everything included. I needed only buy the cable to connect to the free internet in the building. Connection can be shared from laptop to mobile by using hotspot.

When I arrived at August I needed to pick the keys from SiO Customer Service Centre, based at Kristian Ottosens hus, Problemveien 9, at Blindern. It is located in walking distance of Blindern metro station. I walked around the University area trying to find the office, but asked advice from the book shop in the courtyard and it was almost behind - entrance was in the other side of the building. Office was full of students lining keys for student apartments, and it took some time to wait your turn. They also gave envelope and directions to returning keys if the office is not open when leaving after exchange.

I have been satisfied to the apartment, but must say that in the winter time it's a little bit cold in the building. However, apartment is in walking distance to the city centre and Grunerlokka's area is really nice: full of little boutiques, shops, bars and restaurants.

It's good to know that there are quite often fire alarms in the studenthouse. I met first time my neighbors when there was fire alarm in the Saturday evening after I was moved in. I was already in the bed going to asleep, I did not have any make up and I was wearing a nightdress. Because of alarm I needed to go outside of the building like that and I met all the others in the same studenthousing. It was like from comedy movie :,D
